So all the E3 teasers in the past few days have made for some interesting reactions from fans.  I’ve so far only watched a few and I hate watching teasers because I’m so impatient sometimes! like I’ve said before, I enjoyed the new Tomb Raider trailer and I’m looking forward to it.  But there has been some outcry on the web that its very sexual (in the bad way…) and that it is a bit torture/violent to women horrific. I say, if you want to see a game trailer that puts women in a bad situation. Watch the latest Hitman trailer.

srly, what crack are you smoking squeenix? How did you think that was a good idea. I don’t have an issue with the violence aspect.  The women are trying to kill him, he’s a hitman and he’s killing them first…that’s fine. What I do agree on with the rest of the interwebs is that fact that they are dressed like fucking dominatrix nuns.  WHY WAS THIS NECESSARY?! Seriously, the mind boggles at this poor choice.  The fact that they combined very over the top sexual elements with pretty brutal violence is one of the most uncomfortable mixtures they could have ever come up with.  I want to say though, this isn’t a feminist issue and I’m not getting up on my soapbox to gripe about the representation of women in games.  Because to be honest I think that in recent year women have been represented in a pretty positive way.  However, this is a very quick way of damage all that progress.  The fact that mainstream media is talking about it is very very bad.

Part of me just shakes my head, because as far as I can remember Hitman has always been a very controversial game.  So when I heard the news of this trailer I wasn’t too suprised until I watched it and felt my eyeballs pop out of my head. 

….graphics were awesome though. 

E3 is going to be interesting…
